There's been lots of progress! Today I think Jed will install the crown molding, upper cabinet doors, and finish up the rest of the cabinet loose ends. Next on the list will be removing the carpet in the dining area to prepare for the new flooring. I'm quite pleased with the way everything is coming together.

Rainy Day
It's been chilly and rainy today, so I took advantage and washed bedding, paid bills (ew), and folded and put away lots of laundry.
We have a busy week ahead. Tomorrow night we will be attending Bill's cousin Carter's wedding and then Tuesday our new cabinets arrive! Coming home from work Tues - Fri will be like Christmas morning! I can't wait to see how everything comes together. I'll post pictures, of course.
Happy Father's Day!

Yesterday's Progress
Yesterday Jed got a lot of prep work done. He patched dry wall, removed the sophets and a couple of can lights that are no longer needed. He also added an outlet for the convection microwave. It's already looking so much better!
Today Jed moved the phone line, did some prep work for the new lighting we bought tonight, did more dry wall patching, and the list goes on. Tomorrow I will post some new pictures to finish off the busy week.
See, you can cook during a kitchen remodel!
Here's a tote full of "everyday" items that I'll show in another post. On top I keep these items so I don't have to dig for them.

Resourcefulness
Hammie and Ree have been living in the new pool Bill bought them last weekend. Subsequently a small portion of their closets and drawers have made their way onto the decks.
Yesterday Hammie made a "no slivers trail" out of their discarded clothes so that he could walk barefoot down to the grass. Smart! He wasn't very happy when I gathered up his trail to wash it tonight.

There's No Turning Back Now
That's what Bill said yesterday when I came home from work to our torn apart kitchen. As you can see.....our old fridge was leaking and had made quite a moldy mess under the linoleum. It's already looking better today and that section will be replaced tomorrow.
Jed is doing a great job! Although it's a teeny bit difficult to cook without a kitchen sink, I have full use of my oven/stove top and am already loving the new fridge. By this time next week Jed will have made a dent in putting in the new cabinets. Yay!

Organizing My Recipe Mess
I'm a collector of recipes. I clip them out of the newspaper, jot them down when I watch the Food Network, request them from people, etc. Bill often picks me up recipe magazines at the store, too.
During my flurry of kitchen packing, I decided to go about things the right way and organize my collection. I cut out the recipes I wanted and put them into an old scrapbook I had on hand. They are categorized by appetizer, soup, main dish, etc. I'm quite pleased with the outcome.
Because Lori and Kris love to see pictures of my embarrassing messes (the first picture only shows the magazine mess-I was too embarrassed about the loose cut-outs to take a pic of them), here you go.

Someone Has A Loose Tooth!
Yep, Miss Ree has a loose tooth. I noticed it a couple weeks ago and sure enough, it's getting looser as the days pass. I'm really hoping it won't be too upsetting for Hammie to have the fairy visit her first. It's sorta one of those things. We started talking about it tonight so that he's prepared.
Whoa, I posted a picture and just deleted it because I don't want to scare anyone off by seeing a gigantic picture of Ree's open mouth.

Preschool Graduation
Our little ones had their last day of preschool today. It was definitely a bittersweet experience. Our kids have had wonderful teachers and learned SO much the last two years. They're definitely ready for kindergarten!
We went to Ree's celebration first. She had a little graduation ceremony, then a picnic lunch. Afterward, she went to childcare so we could go to Hammie's festivities.
Then it was Hammie's turn. Another picnic, some activities both outside and in, then it was time to go pick up Ree. He's still trying to grasp the transition from his comfy preschool life to kindergarten. It's been an afternoon/evening of many questions.
TIRED kiddos after such a big day!
