Random Funnies

Hammie:

"Mom, I'm almost done cleaning my room. I had to clean it so it didn't get any pig stashes in it."

Ree:

"I'm thankful for......orange cheese."

G: (Upon walking into the kitchen while I was making Chex Mix)

"You know you can just buy that at the store, right?

Christmas Craft Project

Made this little countdown calendar last night. I was in a rush to finish it in time to start using it tomorrow. It took me about 2 hours. I'm happy with how it turned out.

New Furniture

It all started when our basement love seat bit the dust. As in completely bit the dust after 15 years of "service." Bill hauled it out which meant there was no place for teenage guests to sleep, kids to sit and watch t.v., play games, etc.

Yesterday after some marathon furniture shopping we found a couch & love seat we liked. Bill & G moved the upstairs furniture downstairs this afternoon just in time for the new to be delivered. We just need to find some better accent pillows, these aren't really "us."

G turned 17!

We had a pizza party to celebrate G's birthday. HerCan't believe how fast time has gone. I remember cramming 10+ boys in our basement for sleepovers.

Halloween

Halloween was busy! We stopped by Yay's, went trick or treating with Jason & Arlene's kids, then went to Sean & Maria's to visit. Needless to say, they're still working on eating their candy.

Halloween Cake Pops

Here they are. I had a lot of trouble with cracking this time. Which made me mentally crack. Anyway.....they are supposed to be one-eyed purple people eaters & pumpkins. I didn't have any spiral sprinkles to make horns for the purples, but Ree thinks they look like aliens, so we're going with that.

I had black confetti sprinkles and I hand-piped white chocolate in the centers to make pupils.

Nothing Is My Own

I impulsively ordered these owl pajamas on Target.com last week. I totally love all of the retro owl stuff on the market right now. The second I opened the package Ree snatched the jammies out of my hands and tried them on. Hammie had to get in on the action, too.

Just made 17 of these. Thanks for the idea, G(Lori)a.

Cute

Friday night I took Hammie to Blockbuster to pick out movies. We were visiting and he told me:

Mom, my friend is on an airplane right now flying a long, long way to watch his Mommy and Daddy get married. He's gonna come back in a week, though.

I thought that was very sweet. Obviously his teacher does a great job explaining the goings on of the classmates in an understandable way.

6 Years Old!

I can't hardly believe it, but it's true. Hammie and Ree celebrated their 6th birthday 2 weeks ago. They had been looking forward to it since last year and I was asked how many more days until they turn 7!

'Nother Flower Arrangement

Sad News.....

I do believe that Elmer the spider is dead. Not sure what happened but I noticed a Daddy Long Legs hovering next to him a few days ago and I'm pretty sure they can kill other spidies. Elmer is sort of curled up into a little ball and doesn't look quite right.

Lisa, I hope this helps cure any residual nighmare issues you may be having.

Rest in peace, Elmer!

Braggin' Rights

Bill and I have been keepin' on with our new eating/exercise regimen. He has lost between 10 and 15 pounds (he didn't take a starting weight) and I've lost 9. I think I can speak for both of us and say that we've noticed a big difference.

Aside from him getting over a bad cold, Bill has so much more energy than he used to. I haven't really noticed an energy change, but my headaches are less frequent and mostly treatable with ibuprofen rather than my migraine medicine.

It's also been interesting to see how much better "real" food tastes vs. the convenience items. Like last night I made homemade oven french fries and they had so much more flavor than the frozen stuff. The kids loved them. Another favorite for Bill and I is homemade hummus. Laugh all you want, it's good!

We're not perfect. We have one or two cheater meals a week, but even those are scaled down, healthier cheats than what they used to be. I definitely think it's a change we plan to stick with.

He's Ba-ack!

As we all know from watching Charlotte's web (one of the only kid movies I'll watch more than once), this isn't the same Elmer as last year. However, for the first time since I started to notice the little buggers, he sure looks like last year's specimen. I'm a little bummed that Mother Nature didn't send a different colored one.

I really don't like his choice of location, so this weekend I'm going to remove his web and see if he will pack his bags and head elsewhere on the deck.
